Four teams in the state of Texas – Tarleton, SFA, ACU, and Lamar –   were selected for the 2025 FCS playoffs on Sunday morning. The 24-team field included 11 auto-bids for conference champions and 13 at-large bids for the remaining best teams in the country. ACU received an auto-bid for winning the UAC while SFA received one for winning the Southland. Lamar and Tarleton were at-large selections.

Three of those teams are on the same side of the bracket with Lamar, which snuck into the postseason despite losing its last two, heading to Abilene Christian in the first round with the winner facing Stephen F. Austin in the second round. Tarleton is the four-seed on the other side of the bracket and will face the winner of North Dakota and Tennessee Tech.

The first round of the FCS playoffs begins on Nov. 29 with the second-round games happening on Dec. 6. The national championship is on Jan. 5 in Nashville, Tenn.
