Godley Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Curtis Lowery has stepped down after leading the Wildcats for the past five seasons. He led the Wildcats to the playoffs in four of his five seasons.
Lowery cited family reasons as the need for the move as he plans on moving to closer to his extended family.
The Stephenville native first became a head coach in 2017 when he took over as the head coach at Levelland. He was previously on staff at Glen Rose. He posted a 14-8 mark in two years leading the Lobos before being named the head coach at Godley, a fast-growing community south of Fort Worth, in early 2019.
He posted an 8-3 mark in his first season and followed that up with a 7-5 mark in 2020 leading the Wildcats to the area playoffs. Godley stumbled to a 3-7 mark in 2021, but Godley rebounded in 2022 advancing to the 4A-Division II regional semifinals. He followed that up in 2023 with a 5-6 mark and another playoff appearance.
Expect Godley to be very strong in 2024 and the district is fully opening their innovative football stadium with the home section of the stadium being integrated into a Career/Tech Classroom addition. The fast-growth, decent success the past few years and new facility improvements should make Godley an attractive late job opening in the DFW area.
