Texas A&M has officially hired 30-year coaching veteran Tommie Robinson to coach running backs, the program announced on Monday. Robinson replaces Jay Graham, who left over the offseason to take the same position at Tennessee.

TexAgs first reported the move in February. LSU has since hired Kevin Faulk as running backs coach.

Robinson heads to College Station after three years at national champion LSU as running backs coach, assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator. He has previously coached at USC, Texas, Oklahoma State and for multiple NFL teams.

Poaching Robinson is a major coup for Jimbo Fisher. He helped turn Derrius Guice, Nick Brossette and Clyde Edwards-Helaire into 1,000-yard rushers each of the past three seasons, culminating with the national title run. Between 2018 and 2020, he helped coordinate classes that ranked No. 15, No. 5 and No. 4 nationally.

Robinson’s biggest charge will be continuing the development of rising sophomore Isaiah Spiller. The Klein Collins freshman rushed for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season as an Aggie. Maintaining an elite rushing offense is a critical part of Fisher’s offense.
