6A: Lake Travis WR Garrett Wilson Garrett Wilson has been a monster all year in the Lake Travis offense, but he’s managed to take it to another level in the playoffs. Wilson has 403 yards and 10 touchdowns in the Cavaliers’ four playoff games, and he almost singlehandedly made the difference in the team’s exciting 47-39 win over Judson back in the area round. Wilson is one of the most explosive receivers in the country and Lake Travis will look his way a lot against a Katy defense that has allowed just 72 points (6 ppg) all season.
5A: Mansfield Legacy ATH Jalen Catalon
Jalen Catalon can lineup just about anywhere on the field for Mansfield Legacy and he’s done just that all year. Catalon, who has 16 offers and ranks as the No. 8 Class of 2019 safety in the country, has thrown for 1,068 yards and 14 touchdowns, run for 960 yards and 12 TDs, made 92 tackles, intercepted four passes and recovered four fumbles. It’s hard to find a player who impacts the game in as many ways as Catalon does, and he’ll be key as the Broncos look to knock off Aledo.
4A: Carthage RB Keaontay Ingram
Keaontay Ingram is featured on the cover of the 2017 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Rising Magazine and for good reason. Ingram, a Texas commit, is one of the best running backs in the country and has the ability to take any play to the house. Ingram has 1,957 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns this season and is on the verge of leading Carthage to another appearance in the state championship game. It will take a big effort from the Bulldogs’ star though, as La Vega also enters the week with an unblemished record.
3A: Gunter RB Dylan Jantz
Gunter’s offense is a thing of beauty to watch and Dylan Jantz is the leader of a backfield that’s already rushed for more than 4,400 yards on the season. Jantz has 1,061 yards and 24 touchdowns on just 78 carries, making him one of the biggest home run hitters in any backfield in the state. The Tigers are looking to repeat as the champions in Class 3A Division II, and Jantz will be key to pushing Gunter back to the title game in this week’s matchup against Canadian.
2A: San Augustine RB K.J. Davis
Refugio hasn’t given up a 100-yard rusher in a game in two years, but the Bobcats’ defense will face what may be its toughest challenges in that stretch against a productive San Augustine run game. K.J. Davis has 2,303 yards and 33 TDs this season and is averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. Davis has rushed for at least 177 yards in eight straight games and has 511 yards and nine TDs in the last two playoff games alone. Davis will have to continue to put up video-game like numbers if San Augustine is going to knock off the defending champions.
