COLLEGE STATION — Graham became just the second school in the history of the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament to win four titles as the Steers took down a tough Van Alstyne squad ,32-25, on Friday to win the Division II crown.

The victory capped off an 8-0 run for the weekend for Graham, but it didn’t come easy. The Steers had to beat a really good La Marque squad twice on the weekend, including a 19-13 thriller in the semifinals. Graham won a 14-12 quarterfinal slugfest over 2024 champion Hamshire-Fannett.

In the title game the Steers offense was absolutely flawless with QB Cooper Corley and WR Brodie Martin connecting for three touchdown passes, as Graham scored on their first five drives of the game. Only on the game’s final drive did Graham not score as the Steers held the ball to allow the clock to run out.

“This just feels amazing,” Corley said. “We’ve come up short the last two years, going out in the second round, so we wanted to go out with a bang and I’m proud of my guys. Our defense stepped up. At first everybody kind of hated on them, but they made plays when it counted and I couldn’t get it done without my receivers making great plays and running great routes.”

Corley and Martin connected for a short touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive to put the Steers up 6-0, but Van Alstyne answered as QB Aiden Landeros connected with Cayden Benedict on a one-yard score to tie the game on a 4th-and-goal.

After trading scores and PATs to tie the game at 13-13, Graham was able to grab the lead right before halftime with a timely drive that milked most of the remaining clock with Corley connecting with Kyson Bates for a score to give Graham a 19-13 lead.

The game shifted on the opening series of the second half as Van Alstyne facing a third-and-short on the 19-yard line turned the ball over on downs as Graham’s Seth Jilek had a huge pass breakup to give his offense the ball back.

Graham would quickly take a two-score lead as Corley and Martin connected for a long scoring pass and Van Alstyne was facing a steep climb down 26-13. The Panthers would answer as Amryion Taylor would haul in a long touchdown pass to cut the lead to 26-19, but Graham would answer as Corley and Martin connected for their third and final scoring toss with under five minutes left to make it 32-19. Van Alstyne would add a late score with under a minute left for the final tally of 32-25.

Graham, who has won titles in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2026, joins Celina (2000, 2007, 2009 and 2012) as the only teams to win four Texas 7-on-7 State Championships.
