Which teams have the best non-district resumes in 2025? Let's take a look.

Resumes are ranked in order of how impressive they are (1 being most impressive) and are limited to 6A and 5A because the lower classifications are still in the middle of non-district.

8. Port Neches-Groves (3-0)

Week 1: 45-20 win over Klein Oak
Week 2: 45-7 win over Beaumont United
Week 3: 35-21 win over La Porte

Port Neches-Groves, a Class 5A DII program, has defeated a Class 6A Klein Oak team and two Class 5A DI teams (Beaumont United and La Porte).

The win over No.5-ranked La Porte was a statement game. Three-year starter Connor Bailey has complete command of one of the state's most efficient offenses. Houston commit Aaron Wolford anchors an offensive line that paved the way for three Dawson Guidry touchdowns against La Porte. On defense, linebacker Jaxin Winfrey has forced two fumbles, an inteception and racked up four tackles for loss.

7. Aledo (3-0)

Week 1: 21-14 win over Denton Guyer (No. 24 in Class 6A)
Week 2: 18-0 win over Lancaster
Week 3: Began district play

Class 5A Aledo began its state championship quest with two wins over respected Class 6A schools. The Bearcats' defense has been dominant, allowing 21 total points through three games. In their two non-district bouts, the defense held opponents to an average of 179 yards per game.

Aledo's defensive line has lived up to its billing as the No.3-overall unit in Class 5A. Edge rushers Cooper Cyphers and Carson Dempsey (Tulsa commit) have wreaked havoc, while 2027 defensive tackle Tymon Meeks is a run stuffer in the middle of the defense. Cornerback Alex Patton and linebacker Chase Wilburn (Towson commit) have each earned a Defensive Player of the Game nod.

6. Prosper (2-0)

Week 1: 29-22 win over Austin Westlake (No. 13 in Class 6A)
Week 2: 45-27 win over Rockwall-Heath

In two games, Prosper has vaulted from preseason No. 22 to No.12 in the Class 6A rankings. The Eagles handed Austin Westlake its first season-opening loss since 2014, then beat a Rockwall-Heat team that had toppled defending state finalist Highland Park one week earlier.

Prosper's offense is humming with over 500 total yards in both games. Senior quarterback Braeden Imhoff has completed 70 percent of his passes for 737 yards in just two outings. Three receivers have over 100 yards, led by Lathan Latiolais's 316. Running back Bryce Robinson is averaging 5.76 yards per carry behind an offensive line with three Power Four football commits in Zaden Krempin (Texas A&M), Bryce Gilmore (Texas Tech) and Sean Stover (Duke).

Prosper edge rushers Zac Manning and Devin Allen Jr. have been early season standouts. Manning had 10 tackles and four sacks against Austin Westlake, while Devin Allen Jr had 5.5 sacks.

5. Humble Atascocita (2-1)

Week 1: 48-28 win over Houston Lamar
Week 2: 52-33 win over Katy
Week 3: 35-28 loss to Austin Westlake

Atascocita stomped Houston Lamar, the projected District 18-6A Champion, in Week One. Then, the Eagles blew out preseason No.8-ranked Katy, becoming the first program ever to beat Katy three years in a row. The 35-28 loss to Austin Westlake is impressive because Humble Atasocita played without its best offensive weapon, Arizona State commit Cardae Mack.

Before sitting out Week 3, Mack had one of the most prolific starts to the season in Class 6A. The senior quarterback had 471 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in Week One, then followed it up with another six-touchdown night against Katy.

The Eagles are ranked 14th in Class 6A and have a bye week before beginning district play against Sheldon C.E. King on September 26.

4. Dripping Springs (3-0)

Week 1: Austin Vandegrift 41-14 (No.18 in Class 6A)
Week 2: San Antonio Wagner 55-0
Week 3: Killeen Harker Heights 31-26

Dripping Springs had one of the most surprising performances of Week One when they blew out defending state champion and preseason No.6-ranked Austin Vandegrift 41-14. The win wasn't shocking in itself - Dripping Springs beat Vandegrift in 2022 before the Vipers went to the state championship game. But the utter domination raised eyebrows. Dripping Springs punted once and held an offense returning eight starters to 249 yards.

Week 3's 31-26 win over Killeen Harker Heights was one of the most underrated wins of non-district play. Harker Heights is the projected District 12-6A Champion and was averaging 54 points per game heading into its tilt with Dripping Springs.

Quarterback Chase Ames has been a revelation for the offense, completing 65 percent of his passes for 692 yards, nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. Running back Jaceton Gotta has stepped into the spotlight as a senior with five touchdowns. On defense, safety Colten Tripp has recorded an interception against Vandegrift and Harker Heights.

3. Dickinson (3-0)

Week 1: 34-21 win over Katy
Week 2: 47-40 win over C.E. King
Week 3: 35-21 win over Cy-Fair

Dickinson began the year with an upset road victory over preseason No.8-ranked Katy, its first win against the Tigers in school history. The Gators haven't had a letdown since, rolling to their first 3-0 start since the 2018 season. The last two weeks have shown that Dickinson can win games against quality 6A competition in multiple ways. Quarterback Lorenzo Aguirre piloted the offense to 47 points in a barn burner against C.E. King, piling on 365 total yards and four touchdowns. Against Cy-Fair, Dickinson's defense forced six turnovers and pitched a second-half shutout to pick up an offense that had four first-half turnovers and 12 penalties.

2. North Crowley (3-0)

Week 1: 22-18 win over Lancaster
Week 2: 36-27 win over DeSoto
Week 3: 28-27 win over Denton Guyer (No. 24 in Class 6A)

Every week, Texas high school football fans check the scores and wonder if the defending state champs will lose the first regular-season game of head coach Ray Gates's tenure. North Crowley is 3-0 despite trailing at halftime of every game. The Panthers have been outscored 51-36 in first halves, but have responded by outscoring opponents 50-21 in second halves.

North Crowley's resolve in the face of adversity has been impressive, given all the new faces. Growing pains were expected with the offense returning just two starters and losing offensive coordinator Eli Reinhart this offseason. But the Panthers are learning about themselves while beating top-level DFW teams. North Crowley had to come back while fighting multiple lightning delays against Lancaster and DeSoto. Last week, Denton Guyer built a 27-14 lead after returning the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown. But the Panthers' defense posted nine sacks and allowed just 18 yards of offense in the second half to rally for the win.

1. South Oak Cliff (2-1)

Week 1: 41-31 win over Galena Park North Shore (No. 23 in Class 6A)
Week 2: 35-28 loss to Duncanville (No. 2 in Class 6A)
Week 3: 20-17 win over Longview (No. 20 in Class 6A)

South Oak Cliff, as a Class 5A DII team, beat two Class 6A dynasties and took a third to the mat in the most impressive non-district run of 2025. In Week One, the Golden Bears gashed North Shore, the projected 6A Region III Champion in Dave Campbell's Magazine, for 370 rushing yards. Then, South Oak Cliff stormed back from a 22-7 first-quarter deficit to play projected 6A Region II Champion Duncanville to a touchdown. Last week, they beat Longview despite playing without Baylor linebacker commit Jamarion Phillips, Clemson corner commit Marcell Gipson and star running back Mikail Trotter.
