The Built Ford Tough Player of the Year Award celebrates the top high school football athletes in Texas across classifications 6A through 2A and eligible private schools.
Each week during the season, one standout is named the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week, leading up to the prestigious Player of the Year honors in each classification.
The experts at Dave Campbell's share their players to watch for 6A.
Mallory Hartley's Player to Watch
2026 WR Ethan "Boobie" Feaster (DeSoto): Feaster is one of the most dynamic receivers in the 2026 class, after reclassifying from 2027. With over 50 offers and a high upside, expect a big senior year out of Feaster with a reliable quarterback in Legend Howell to get him the ball. DeSoto is poised for another standout year, and with Feaster as a senior leader and a highly-targeted offensive weapon, AT&T Stadium could be back in their sights.
Carter Yates' Player to Watch
2026 RB John Hebert (Houston Strake Jesuit): Hebert’s 3,532 rushing yards as a junior was the seventh-most in TXHSFB history. His lowest single game yardage total was 151 yards, which many guys would count as a career day.
William Wilkerson's Player to Watch
2026 ATH Jermaine Bishop (Willis): One of the most electric playmakers in the country should put up monster numbers this season for a team whose only loss in 2024 came in the third round of the playoffs. He had over 2,100 all-purpose yards last season and also 37 tackles, 5 interceptions and 8 pass-breakups.
Matt Stepp's Player to Watch
2026 RB Jonathan Hatton (Cibolo Steele): After airing it out last season, powerhouse Steele is set to go back to the future in 2025. The Knights will lean on an elite defense and the hard-nosed running of its Texas A&M commit to lead the charge. Expect Hatton to have a monster year.
Greg Powers' Player to Watch
2026 WR Brock Boyd (Southlake Carroll): The Ohio State commit had one of the most productive junior seasons ever, hauling in 111 receptions for 1,976 yards and 19 touchdowns. If he has the same type of production this year, then the Dragons have a good shot at a state title, and he will move toward the top of some of the all-time TXHSFB leaderboards.
Greg Tepper's Player to Watch
2026 QB Miles Teodecki (Austin Vandegrift): After leading Vandegrift to its historic first state championship, the Vipers' signal-caller is back for his senior year, and all signs point to a monster finish to his career. After throwing for 3,256 yards and 48 touchdowns as a junior, the Kansas State commit should be even better in 2025.
