Allen ISD on Tuesday made sweeping changes in their athletic department as on Tuesday head coach Terry Gambill announced his retirement after five seasons as the head coach at Allen, where he posted an incredible 65-4 overall record and led the Eagles to a state title in 2017.
More changes came down Thursday as Allen ISD athletic director Steve Williams also announced his retirement leaving Allen without a head football coach and without an athletic director. Add in the rumors of multiple players in recent weeks leaving the program and you’ve got a less than ideal situation in one of the state’s premier programs.
In spite of what Allen ISD social media accounts may state publicly, there’s no question Allen ISD administration has a short list of candidates they want to reach out to and reports are several have already been contacted and one may already have been given a conditional job offer. This indicates Allen ISD is not going to leave their football coach vacancy open for very long, but then that brings into play the fact that an athletic director may be hired after the football coach, which potentially could create a unique working dynamic. Lots of moving parts in Allen and this will be worth watching over the next two to three weeks.
