Who runs this state? The Dave Campbell’s Texas Football staff gives their power rankings of the 13 FBS college football teams in Texas in the FBS Power Poll.

Note: Teams are measured against the overall strength of their conference. Only teams that have played are ranked.

1.

Texas Longhorns

2 - 0

Texas scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to beat No. 1 ranked Ohio State. That win gives the Horns some wiggle room heading into SEC play.

2.

Texas A&M Aggies

2 - 0

The Aggie defense scored twice and caused four turnovers in a win over Arizona State that looked like a blow out on the scoreboard but felt like anyone's game for much of the contest.

Last Week: #2

3.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

2 - 0

Texas Tech doesn't look like the machine that marched to a Big 12 championship and into the CFP last year. The offense looks out of sync.

Last Week: #3

4.

Houston Cougars

2 - 0

Houston looks like a team that could walk into Lubbock next week and put a scare into the Red Raiders. They share a common opponent in Oregon State.

5.

SMU Mustangs

2 - 0

Kevin Jennings threw for 337 yards and five touchdowns in the win over UC Davis. More importantly, he didn't turn the ball over. An important ACC game against Louisville looms.

6.

TCU Horned Frogs

TCU shook off the North Carolina loss in Ireland with a 63-7 win over Arkansas State. Jaden Craig threw for 391 yards and four touchdowns.

8.

UTSA Roadrunners

2 - 0

The Triangle of Toughness came to life in UTSA's comeback win over Texas State. The fact that it was on the road made it sweeter for a Roadrunners program that's struggled away from home.

Last Week: #8

9.

North Texas Mean Green

1 - 1

The Mean Green dog walked UNLV in a blow out win that sent shockwaves through the G6 landscape. North Texas looks like a legit AC contender through two weeks.

Last Week: #10

10.

Texas State Bobcats

0 - 2

The Bobcats blew a 10-point halftime lead at home to the rival Roadrunners in Week 2. North Texas comes to town with momentum next week.

Last Week: #9

11.

Rice Owls

1 - 1

There is no shame in a blowout loss at Notre Dame. But things don't get much easier with Western Michigan up next.

Last Week: #11

12.

Sam Houston Bearkats

0 - 2

Sam Houston played in front of a home crowd at Bowers Stadium for the first time in 652 days. The Bearkats were yards away from upsetting Tulsa in the return.

13.

UTEP Miners
