Texas Tech scored a massive in-state recruiting win with the commitment of DeSoto 2027 RB SaRod Baker (5'10, 195). Baker, who collected over 40 offers, selected the Red Raiders over Texas and Texas A&M.

Baker is one of Texas high school football's most explosive and most accomplished playmakers in the 2027 cycle. The four-star powered DeSoto to the 6A Division II state title with 4,400 total yards and 55 touchdowns, highlighted by a staggering 402-yard, seven-touchdown regional finals performance that will live in TXHSFB lore.

The commitment gives Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders four of the top 10 highest-rated in-state pledges in 2027, joining DT Jalen Brewster (Cedar Hill), QB Kavian Bryant (Palestine Westwood) and WR Benny Easter Jr. (Humble Summer Creek).

Baker built a strong relationship with Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech staff, and in the end, that connection proved decisive. His commitment is another statement win for a recruiting class being touted as one of the nation’s best.
