Legendary West-Orange Stark head coach Dan R. Hooks passed away on Tuesday. He was 87.

A member of the 2020 Texas High School Football Hall of Fame class, Hooks was one of the sport's all-time great coaches, leading the Mustangs from 1981 to 2010. Under Coach Hooks, West Orange-Stark posted a record of 277-71-2, including back-to-back state titles in Class 4A in 1986 & 1987, with 19 total postseason appearances and 17 district championships.

West Orange-Stark's home stadium was renamed in honor of Hooks' legacy in 2006.
