Beckville 2024 ATH J'koby Williams (5'9, 170) has committed to Texas Tech over offers from Baylor, Houston, TCU, UTSA, LSU and Michigan. 

Williams is a three-sport superstar at Beckville, competing in football, basketball, and track. 

In track, he took home Gold at the Texas state championships in the 110m hurdles (14.26) and the triple jump (45-11.75). 

On the gridiron, he is a four-year starter and a three-time Captain who makes plays on offense, defense, and special teams. 

Last year, Williams led the Bearcats to a 10-2 record, rushing for 1,664 yards and 27 touchdowns and collecting 27 receptions for 718 yards and 11 TDs. 

"His first three steps are as good as anybody in the country," said Beckville head coach Cody Ross. "He's as quick as they come. He sees things that you just don't see, and you can't coach."

"This is my 21st year coming up to do this, and I've been around a lot of talented players; he's probably the most talented I've been around."

Coach Ross gives Williams equal praise for handling his business off the field. He is a team-first student-athlete who has dealt with his recruitment and attention with dignity. 

Ross credits Williams with maturity in speaking with the college coaches that have come through Beckville to recruit him, whether they are from the 'University of Texas or the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.' 

"He's an incredible kid," Ross said. "He speaks from the heart. His mom has done a great job raising him. Whether he plays football for the next twenty years or not, he's going to be a great young man and achieve a lot of great things."

"He's about Beckville High School. He goes from football to basketball to track, and all of those things. He knows that it's important to be here for his teammates."

At the end of the day, it just simply came down to "building relationships" with the staff at Texas Tech. 

Williams is rated as the No. 81 prospect in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.
