The portal is technically closed and most of the top players that entered have found new homes ahead of the spring semester. We’ll break down each of the 13 FBS portal classes across the state of Texas, starting with the Longhorns, who could enter the 2026 season as the preseason No. 1 team for the second straight year.
Overview
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and general manager Brandon Harris were more aggressive in the portal than in years past as the Horns load up for a run at the 2026 national title. They allowed some proven commodities like RB Tre Wisner, WR DeAndre Moore Jr., and WR Parker Livingstone to walk out of the door alongside some highly touted young talent such as LB Elijah Barnes and former five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench.
The Longhorns clearly want to use their revenue share money on the two-deep and not on potential. They freed up money that allowed them to land coveted stars such as WR Cam Coleman, arguably the top player in the 2026 transfer portal, and LB Rasheem Biles. Texas signed a Top 10 portal class that includes 16 new faces, and each one of them should contribute in some fashion during the 2026 campaign.
Class Grade: A+
Three Key Additions
WR Cam Coleman, Auburn: The incoming junior was a five-star recruit and the top-ranked player in Alabama as a prep star before landing at Auburn. The 6-3, 201-pound Coleman is a physical specimen who will be coveted by NFL franchises once he’s draft eligible in 2026. He was in the same high school recruiting class as Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Wingo, who will now be Texas’ No. 2 wide receiver. He recorded 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons at Auburn despite horrendous quarterback play. Arch Manning and Coleman should form the top passing duo in the SEC.
LB Rasheem Biles, Pitt: Biles was a second-team All-ACC selection in 2025 after leading the league with 17.5 tackles for loss, which ranked eighth in the entire FBS. The 6-1, 220-pound Biles will be a perfect replacement for the departing Anthony Hill Jr. because of his athleticism and play-making ability in the backfield. He was the No. 1-ranked linebacker in the portal and should thrive in the aggressive defense implemented by new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. He’ll headline a linebacker room that includes Ty’Anthony Smith, Brad Spence, and incoming five-star Tyler Atkinson. Texas also signed Florida State linebacker transfer Justin Cryer.
OT Melvin Siani, Wake Forest: The Texas offensive line was a glaring issue for much of the 2025 season and the Horns went about securing the front lines with Siani, one of the top offensive tackle prospects available. Him and Trevor Goosby will form one of the best tackle tandems in football and both are future NFL draft picks. Siani started his career at Temple before transferring to Wake Forest ahead of the 2025 season, where he started 13 games and didn’t allow a sack on 914 snaps.
Two Sleepers
TE Michael Masunas, Michigan State: Sarkisian loves the tight end position and the Michigan State transfer offers the Horns a terrific in-line blocker who should instantly help in the run game. He also has potential as a pass catcher, recording 19 catches for 232 yards and three touchdowns last season. He was a starter in 2024 for the first four games before a season-ending injury cost him the rest of the year. He’ll have one year of eligibility left.
CB Bo Mascoe, Rutgers: Cornerback coach Mark Orphey spent two seasons with Mascoe at Rutgers before joining the Texas staff and now the two are reunited. He’ll arrive with two seasons of eligibility and the opportunity to immediately become a starter in the Horns secondary at cornerback. He started in all 12 games for the Scarlet Knights and was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection after recording 53 tackles, one interception, and four pass breakups.
