David Raffield, a mainstay in the Texas high school football coaching world in the Houston area and Brazos Valley, announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Raffield will step down as head coach at Bridgeland in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where he's spent the last six seasons building the program as the school's first and only head coach. Prior to his stop with the Bears, Raffield coached for six seasons at A&M Consolidated and seven seasons at Cy Falls, racking up a 142-84 record over his 19-year head coaching career.

Raffield's teams made the playoffs in 15 out of his 19 seasons, including a run to the state championship game with Cy Falls in 2006, one of four 10-win seasons in his career.
