College Park 2027 QB Camden Hughes (6'2, 190) has arrived, and now is the time for college programs to buy stock before it explodes.
On his way to winning the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week Award in 6A following a week two win 58-20 win over Klein Cain, Hughes racked up 534 total yards and scored seven touchdowns.
Through his first three games, Hughes has totaled 1,046 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging six TDs per game.
"I’m blessed to have this coaching staff, a great team, and a great O-line that works hard every day. I’ve got receivers I can trust to make plays. With all of that combined, success is going to happen," Hughes said.
On the recruiting front, Hughes has already nabbed early offers from UTSA and North Texas, and Houston, SMU, Texas Tech, Louisiana, Tulsa, Wyoming, among many more have been keeping close tabs. More offers are coming. Sooner than later.
"It gives me hope that this can help kickstart my recruiting and push things forward," Hughes said.
"I know where I want to be: playing at the next level. That means I have to face great competition every week, and I use that as motivation to prepare and keep pushing myself."
College Park Head Coach Kyle Coats believes that Hughes' competitiveness sets him apart, which is something all colleges want to hear when recruiting a QB.
"He competes in every drill and wants to win everything, which carries over to games," Coats said. "As a sophomore, he was thrown into the QB role and had to lead older players. They respected him, and now, as a junior, he’s our only junior captain. That says a lot."
Camden Hughes and College Park (3-0) look to stay unbeaten vs. Conroe Oak Ridge (2-1) tonight.
