Springtown at Brock

Two teams with aspirations of making it to AT&T Stadium in their respective divisions square off to open the season out in western Parker County.

Springtown enters this one fresh off a 12-1 season and a trip to the regional semifinals and the Porcupines have reason to believe 2026 is the year.

QB Kaine Hill returns for this third season to lead the offense; he accounted for 48 touchdowns a year ago and nearly 3,300 yards of total offense – he didn’t even play much of the second half in most of them. WR Pilot Grubis hauled in 10 scores a year ago as well, so expect Springtown’s offense to be dominant.

The defense could be just as stout, especially at LB with Arizona commit Rome Ewell leading the charge along with Kasen Beaman; the duo combined for 328 tackles in 2025.

The transition to 4A has been quite smooth for Brock as the Eagles have won the last two regional titles in 4A-Division II Region I and most have Brock tabbed as a favorite again in 2026.

QB Holt Frazier, who threw for 50 touchdowns a year ago, is back along with RB Bryer McDonald and TE Davis Lee. But the Eagles have to replace their talented group of WR’s and they’ll have some holes to fill along the offensive line.

Much like Springtown, Brock has a strong duo at LB with Hayden Waller and Jack Farhat.

Brock’s showed plenty of ability to reload with quality talent, specifically in the trenches, but this Springtown squad is a Division I contender with a bit more experience returning. I think Springtown’s offensive balance will be enough in what should be a fairly high-scoring affair.
