Championship rosters are built different in Texas.
It's one thing to have a four or five-star prospect on your team. It's another to roll out an entire depth chart filled with Power Four recruits, where future college starters are battling each other for starting spots every day in practice.
Across Texas, multiple programs have assembled depth charts filled with future Saturday standouts, continuing a trend that saw the state produce 348 FBS signees in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Programs like Duncanville and Galena Park North Shore have long been the gold standard, stacking recruiting classes year after year while producing relevant names like Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons and Ohio State defensive back Devin Sanchez. It's no surprise those two programs have met in six of the past eight Class 6A Division I state championship games.
The next wave is already here.
The programs below each feature at least 15 prospects with FBS-level grades, giving them the roster depth to sustain championship runs while feeding college football with its next generation of stars.
1. North Crowley
Losing five-star CB John Meredith III to reclassification and an early enrollment at Texas stung, but new head coach DeMarcus Harris still inherits one of the deepest collections of talent in the state.
The secondary is still the strength of the entire roster.
Four-star 2027 CB Jerry Outhouse Jr. is committed to UCLA, while Rising 100 S Elijajuan Houston is pledged to Arizona State. 2029 CB Braylen Cunningham already owns 20 scholarship offers from programs including Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, TCU and Texas Tech. Cunningham is the younger brother of Texas Longhorns LB Jonathan Cunningham.
2028 WR Damarion Mays headlines the offense. At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, he is already viewed as one of the nation's best and secured the No. 1 spot in the 2029 DCTX Ultimate 50.
A bevy of playmakers surrounds Mays: 2028 WR Hayden Green and 2028 WR Kade Smith along with 2027 TE Jeramie Cooper. Three-star 2027 RB G'yrell Smith is committed to North Texas.
2. Allen
Allen may have graduated key contributors from last year's 14-1 squad, but the Eagles have reloaded with one of the nation's most exciting collections of underclassmen, boasting a core of 2029 prospects who will be the faces of the program.
2029 QB Ty Snell has already eclipsed 25 scholarship offers from programs including Texas A&M, Ohio State and Tennessee. 2029 TE Jaden Davis became a rare freshman starter last season and has earned scholarship offers from Alabama and several other national powers. 2029 WR Zach Williams arrives after starring at Bishop Lynch, where he dominated private school competition as a freshman. With more than 30 offers already in hand, he projects among the nation's top slot receivers in the 2029 cycle.
Up front, former IMG Academy standout 2028 OL Maxx Jones immediately strengthens an offensive line replacing multiple seniors. Jones already owns roughly 30 offers and joins 2027 Colorado commit OC Jayin Talib to give Allen one of the state's best offensive line tandems.
The defense features another major addition in former Bishop Gorman (Nev.) standout LB Raiden Johnson, whose spring game performance suggested he could quickly become the face of the defense. 2028 CB Dominic Butler also exploded onto the recruiting scene this offseason with offers from Texas, Oklahoma and several others. 2027 Wisconsin S commit James Roberson is an enforcer from his spot at safety.
3. Fort Bend Ridge Point
Rick LaFavers has built Ridge Point into one of the state's best player-development programs. After sending nine prospects to the FBS ranks in 2026, the Panthers enter another season loaded with Power Four talent, particularly on defense.
2028 LB Brayden Bonik leads the way with 45 scholarship offers. 2027 S/LB Aaron Williams is committed to North Carolina, while Kansas State pledges 2027 S Bryson Dossett and 2027 CB Logan Davis headline an experienced secondary. Another fast-rising defender is 2028 LB Khalen Taylor, who earned linebacker MVP honors at the Rivals Houston camp and has already landed more than 20 offers from schools including Texas, Penn State, TCU, Houston and SMU. Don't overlook 2027 LB Dyllon Bennett, who remains one of the state's most underrated defensive prospects.
2027 QB Brody Bartee and 2027 WR Suhaib Ramseur give the offense continuity as Florida Atlantic commits, but perhaps the most intriguing player on the roster is 2030 RB Adrian Peterson Jr., who has already received early offers from Florida State, Miami, SMU, Texas Tech and others.
4. Waxahachie
Dave Campbell's Texas Football enters the season with Waxahachie ranked No. 1 in 6A, and much of that confidence stems from one of the state's deepest collections of proven college prospects. Unlike many talent-rich programs, the Indians are loaded across nearly every position group.
Texas A&M commit S Jay'Quan Snell headlines the defense. Ranked No. 9 overall in the 2027 DCTX Rising 100, Snell has built his reputation as one of the state's most physical defensive backs.
His younger brother, 2028 DT Aaron Snell, is already drawing major recruiting attention after earning an early Texas A&M offer. 2027 DE Sedrick Marsh adds another elite piece to the front seven as a Kansas State commitment.
2027 QB Jerry Meyer III directs the offense after throwing for 8,773 career yards and 120 touchdowns entering the season. The South Carolina commit gives Waxahachie one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in Texas.
2028 WR Jordan Thompson-Woods appears ready for a breakout campaign. Already holding double-digit scholarship offers, he is expected to assume the featured role following Kohen Brown's departure to Texas.
The offensive line could be the strength of the team, featuring Louisiana Tech commit Malik Dismuke and North Texas commit Grant Gonzales in 2027 and OT Carson Masnfield in 2028.
5. Alvin Shadow Creek
Programs like Duncanville, North Shore and Southlake Carroll may feature more total FBS prospects, but few teams in Texas can match Shadow Creek's star power at the top of the roster.
The headliner is 2028 WR Jaylen Addai, who sits atop the 247Sports state rankings after a sophomore season that produced 779 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Nearly every major program in the country has already extended an offer.
Four-star 2027 WR Aden Starling enters the season as one of Texas' highest-rated uncommitted prospects. The former Georgia pledge is now focusing heavily on Arkansas and LSU.
Michigan commit 2027 DE Xavier Muhammad adds one of the state's most versatile athletes after transferring from South Houston. An outstanding basketball prospect as well, Muhammad projects as a two-way contributor capable of making an impact at both tight end and defensive end before heading to Ann Arbor.
As usual, the Sharks are loaded in the secondary. Texas commit CB Brandon Sherrard (2027) gives Shadow Creek a true shutdown corner capable of erasing an opponent's top receiver, while Maryland commit S Kevin Jackson II (2027) adds size and experience in the middle. 2027 ATH Kaleb Samuels just added an offer from Purdue.
