Each week during the season, one standout is named the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week, leading up to the prestigious Player of the Year honors in each classification.

Mallory Hartley's Player to Watch
TE/DE Camden Ables, Hawley: One last ride for the father/son duo of Coach Mitch Ables and his son, Camden, and he’ll play a huge factor on both sides of the ball this year. A preseason, all-state tight end selection, the Tarleton State commit stands out on the field with a 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. He’s an excellent pass catcher, acquiring 792 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
Matt Stepp's Player to Watch
ATH Logan Bures, Ganado: As a sophomore, Bures played a big part in Ganado's state title team. As a senior, he could be the key cog. Bures spends most of his time at running back and linebacker, but he lines up at wide receiver and in the secondary. He will also be a factor in the return game.
Greg Powers' Player to Watch
ATH D’Adrian Renfro, San Augustine: One of the state’s best-kept secrets, QB/ATH Renfro has been a program-altering talent, leading the Wolves to 10 wins last season and a deep playoff run. He also led them to a STATE TITLE on the hardwood. Can he do it on the gridiron?
Carter Yates' Player to Watch
QB Brock Belcher, Windthorst: Windthorst football is a family affair for the Belchers. Scott Belcher is the Trojans' offensive coordinator. His oldest son, Cy, is the QB coach. And his youngest son, Brock is one of the best quarterbacks in the state, lighting up West Texas scoreboards for 3,491 passing yards, 850 rushing yards, and 65 total touchdowns. This fall, Brock looks to follow in his older brother's footsteps by leading Windthorst to a state championship game. Could he win Player of the Year in the process?
William Wilkerson's Player to Watch
RB Cooper Bragg, Joaquin: He rushed for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns last season to go along with 91 tackles while almost leading the Rams to a state title. He might just finish the job this season.
Greg Tepper's Player to Watch
QB Levi Leathers, Axtell: One of my very favorite players in all of Texas high school football, Leathers enters his fourth year as the starter for the Longhorns, and he’s only gotten better each year. He threw for 2,284 yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior, adding 538 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. He’s the real deal.
