Now in its eighth year, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Whataburger are once again teaming up to recognize the best and brightest in Texas high school football with the 2025 Whataburger Super Team.
This fall, fans from across the state will have the chance to nominate standout players for a spot on the ballot of 300. In November, voting will open at TexasFootball.com/WhataSuperTeam, where communities can rally behind their athletes to narrow the field from 300 nominees to the final 40 honorees, who will be announced in January 2026.
Over the years, the Whataburger Super Team has celebrated some of the biggest names in football, including Andrew Luck (Stratford HS, Indianapolis Colts), Kyler Murray (Allen HS, Arizona Cardinals), Garrett Wilson (Lake Travis HS, New York Jets), Marvin Mims (Frisco Lone Star HS, Denver Broncos), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Rockwall HS, Seattle Seahawks), Jordan Whittington (Cuero HS, Los Angeles Rams), Caden Sterns (Cibolo Steele HS, Philadelphia Eagles), and DeMarvin Leal (Converse Judson HS, Pittsburgh Steelers).

Preseason Super Team Defensive MVP
UT Jermaine Bishop | 5'11, 160 | Willis - Bishop is a three-phase playmaker with limitless versatility. He impacts the game on offense, defense and special teams—often looking like the best player on the field. Some recruiters mention Travis Hunter, and it’s not a stretch. Bishop’s competitive edge and all-around skillset make him one of Texas’ most unique talents.
First Team Preseason Defense
DL Jamarion Carlton | 6'5, 240 | Temple - Carlton boasts developmental upside with a frame and skill set that project elite growth. Already dominant, his ceiling skyrockets once he enters a college strength program. Already a Navy All-American Bowl alum, he flashes traits that scream future first-rounder—long, athletic, and raw with explosive potential just around the bend.
DL Jesse Ford | 6'4, 235 | Arlington Martin - Ford brings edge-setting power and the long-frame traits college coaches covet. The Dave Campbell's four-star blends run-stuffing grit with pass-rush upside. He’s still growing, both physically and technically, but his foundation suggests a future strongside anchor who can set the edge and close pockets with force.
DL KJ Ford | 6'3, 245 | Duncanville - Ford is a rare edge talent with jaw-dropping first-step quickness that jumps off the tape—especially in the opening clips of his highlight reel. As one of the first underclassmen to ever play in the Under Armour All-America Game, he notched a sack and proved his burst holds against elite competition.
DL Jaimeon Winfield | 6'3, 290 | Richardson - Winfield dominates the interior with raw violence and freakish get-off. His highlight reel is pure chaos—think Ed Oliver in high school pads. If he masters pad level and consistency, he’s nearly unblockable. Few big men flash this kind of backfield burst, and even fewer carry that level of upside.
EDGE Landon Barnes | 6'3, 220 | Duncanville - Barnes is a unique talent—an athletic hybrid who defies strict positional labels. He can rush the passer, play the run and drop into coverage without coming off the field. Whether standing up or hand-in-the-dirt, his versatility, twitch, and range make him an edge-rushing nightmare.
LB Daquives Beck | 6'1, 210 | Carthage - The four-star from East Texas is a powerful, scheme-versatile defender who can play inside or outside in any front. He was named Defensive MVP of the 4A Division II state title game and returns to lead a loaded 2025 defense. Beck is a tone-setter who doesn’t miss tackles and delivers consistent physicality.
LB Tank King | 6'2, 205 | Port Arthur Memorial - One of the most reliable tacklers in Texas. King posted 141 stops in 2024, showcasing his ability to read keys, shed blocks and finish plays. King’s instincts and discipline make him one of the most complete linebackers in the class and a dependable presence at the heart of any defense.
DB Jamarion Vincent | 6'2, 165 | Waco Connally - Vincent is a versatile athlete who will lead the offense at quarterback in 2025, but his long-term upside is at cornerback. He’s widely recognized as one of the top cover men in Texas with loose hips, quick feet, and long arms that help him mirror receivers and erase throwing windows.
DB Donovan Webb | 6'0, 175 | Frisco Panther Creek - Webb’s highlight tape is must-see, but he's even more impressive in person. A rangy, physical safety who could realistically play corner, his instincts and coverage are elite. A two-way threat with All-State honors, the Under Armour Next DB MVP flashes physical upside. He’s a tone-setting defensive back who makes everything look easy.
DB Isaiah Williams | 6'0, 185 | Fort Bend Marshall - Williams plays safety with aggression and control. A punisher in the middle, he made such an impact as a sophomore that teams schemed away from him in 2024. He still popped. Strong in coverage with highlight-reel hits, he’s the tone-setter you avoid—or pay for challenging—a flat-out violent striker.
