Chris Koetting stands out as a Panhandle coaching legend, having guided the Canadian Wildcats to state championships in 2014, 2015, and 2020, along with an additional state championship game appearance in 2018.

In 13 seasons leading Canadian, his teams won 13 district championships and posted a 13-0 record in bi-district playoff games. Koetting retired in 2023 with an outstanding .873 winning percentage and a career head coaching record of 165-24.

During his tenure, the Wildcats compiled a 49-10 playoff record and reached at least the state semifinals nine times in 13 seasons. Koetting was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2024, and Canadian named its football stadium in his honor in 2023.
