Brad Goebel was a standout quarterback for Cuero High School from 1984 to 1986, passing for 3,480 yards and 40 touchdowns. He led the Gobblers to an impressive 22-3 record and guided the team to the 3A state championship game in 1986. After his senior season, Goebel was selected to play in the prestigious Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) All-Star Game.
After high school, Goebel made a quick transition to college football, earning consensus All-Southwest Conference honors as a freshman quarterback at Baylor in 1987. Over the course of his career at Baylor, he threw for over 5,000 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Though undrafted, Goebel played parts of four NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He is a member of both the Cuero High School Hall of Fame and the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame.
