Alfred Anderson was a dynamic quarterback at Richfield High School. He passed for 1,795 yards, rushed for 748 yards, and accounted for 31 touchdowns as a senior in 1979. In doing so, he earned first-team all-state honors and was named Super Centex Player of the Year, becoming one of the top prospects in Texas.
He signed with Baylor, where he rushed for 2,424 career yards and 35 touchdowns. As a senior, he rushed for 1,046 yards and was a unanimous All-Southwest Conference selection. Anderson was later named to Baylor’s all-decade team for the 1980s.
He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round and went on to play eight seasons in Minnesota. Anderson finished his NFL career with 2,374 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
