Quiet Period: March 2 – April 14, 2026
- Coaches may have in-person contact only on their campus.
- They cannot travel to high schools or meet recruits off campus.
- College recruiters can meet with students only if they visit the college campus.
Powers Tip: The evaluation window is coming up. Championships are built in the offseason, and offers can be earned here, too. Stay locked in in the weight room/offseason program, and if you’re not running track, focus on improving speed and quickness so you’re ready when coaches stop by.
Contact Period: April 15 – April 30, 2026
- Coaches may meet recruits in person on or off campus.
- They can visit high schools, conduct in-person evaluations and have face-to-face conversations.
Powers Tip: This is a major evaluation window for TXHSFB prospects. Players and high school coaches should ensure highlight tapes, recruiting profiles, verified measurables and social media accounts are fully updated with the most accurate and current profile information.
Quiet Period: May 1 – May 23, 2026
- Coaches may have in-person contact only on their campus.
- They cannot travel to high schools or meet recruits off campus.
- College recruiters can meet with students only if they visit the college campus.
Powers Tip: The evaluation window has closed, and spring football in Texas is complete. Upperclassmen and underclassmen should now assess which programs have shown interest, and at what level. Sign up for college camps to put yourself in front of college coaches, ESPECIALLY if you have not earned any offers.
Dead Period: May 24 – May 27, 2026
- No in-person contact or evaluations are allowed.
- Student-athletes can't visit the college for recruiting purposes (no unofficial or official visits are allowed).
Powers Tip: During a dead period, it is up to the student-athletes to contact colleges, which is always permissible.
Quiet Period: May 28 – June 21, 2026
- Coaches may have in-person contact only on their campus.
- They cannot travel to high schools or meet recruits off campus.
- College recruiters can meet with students only if they visit the college campus.
- This is when college camps will happen
Powers Tip: This stretch is the primary window for Official Visits for the 2027 class. If you are not receiving official visit invitations, it is important to reassess your options — explore opportunities beyond Division I and prioritize attending college camps to increase exposure.
Powers Tip: Pay attention to WHO is inviting you to camp and prioritize camps of schools that are realistic fits or may actually offer. A college position coach inviting you to a camp carries more weight than just a standard camp invite.
Dead Period: June 22 – July 31, 2026
- No in-person contact or evaluations are allowed.
- Student-athletes can't visit the college for recruiting purposes (no unofficial or official visits are allowed).
Powers Tip: Commitment season for the 2027 class. Many of the state's most heavily pursued prospects will have made their Official Visits and will be locking in commitments ahead of their upcoming senior seasons. New opportunities will arise as FBS colleges could look to fill holes if they missed on some of their main targets. Focus will begin to shift heavily to the Class of 2028.
