After playing neutral site games the past two seasons, Austin Westlake will make the long trip to the northern reaches of the DFW area to take on Prosper in what should be a marquee matchup on Dave Campbell’s Friday Night Football.

Westlake took down one DFW opponent last week at home as the Chaparrals rolled past Euless Trinity 35-10. QB Paxton Jones tossed a pair of touchdowns to Rhett Jenkins, talented freshman RB CJ Jones tallied a touchdown run and the always-dangerous Chaparrals special teams played a role as they had a blocked punt return for a score in the win.

The real encouraging sign for Westlake was they limited a strong Trinity ground game to just 10 points and the touchdown was scored in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach at 35-3.

Prosper is off to a strong 2-0 start after the Eagles escaped with a 50-43 overtime win over North Forney. The Eagles were led by QB Tyler Albert, who torched the North Forney secondary for 344 yards and six touchdowns; he also scored a rushing TD. His top target was WR Eliott Brown, who hauled in three scoring passes and finished with 126 receiving yards.

Prosper’s defense did have some issues last week as they allowed North Forney to rally from a 37-21 deficit to send the game to overtime, but the Eagles young offense looks to be already hitting mid-season stride.

The road trip is a concern for Westlake, but the Chaps I think will have the defensive game plan to slow Prosper down and I’m not sure Prosper’s defense has shown through two weeks they will be up to the task against a state ranked opponent.
