Southlake Carroll (1-0) at North Crowley (1-0)

It’s a top 10 6A showdown in Fort Worth on Friday as Southlake Carroll visits South Fort Worth to take on North Crowley.

Carroll is fresh off a heart-stopping 34-33 win over Oklahoma powerhouse Jenks on Thursday night. The Dragons dug themselves a 27-0 hole in the second quarter but rallied for an incredible win.

QB Hudson Tomcheck threw for 322 yards and two scores, and he added two rushing touchdowns to pace the Dragons rally. Illinois WR commit Brody Knowles hauled in seven passes for 180 yards and two scores as well.

Defensively, freshman DE Jason Maxiel, II really flashed late in the game and gives the Dragons defense an explosive threat to rush the passer.

North Crowley made quite the statement in their season opener as the Panthers totally outclassed Aledo in their 6A debut with a 26-0 win that was probably more lopsided than the score indicates as NCHS took their foot off the gas in the second half.

North Crowley held Aledo to -18 yards rushing in one of the most dominant defensive performances you’ll ever see.

The Panthers offense scored all 26 points in the first half as QB JT Torres tossed three touchdown passes and super sophomore CB Braylon Cunningham had a pick-six to spark the NCHS rout.

Southlake’s offense will be a much better test for North Crowley’s elite defense, but this is a young Dragons squad walking into a real tough environment at Crowley ISD Stadium and I’m not sure they are ready for the type of stress North Crowley can put you under on both sides of the ball.

If Carroll's defensive line can control the line of scrimmage and put pressure on North Crowley QB JT Torres they have a shot at the upset, but if Torres has time, the Panthers group of WR's will win the matchups and make big plays against the Carroll secondary.
