Highest-Rated: 2028 OL/DL Jamarios Canton (6’5, 305) - San Augustine
Canton is back in Texas after spending a season at IMG Academy in Fla. The big man had a breakout freshman season at Center in 2024 and now figures to play an integral role on both sides of the ball for the Wolves, who enter the season as one of the state title favorites after a 10-4 season in 2025. Canton is already one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the nation, with offers from programs like Houston, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and more.
Top Underclassman: 2029 ATH Dylan Russell (5’11, 155) - Kenedy
A true two-way star, Russell broke out on the recruiting scene earlier this week when he was officially named a four-star prospect by 247Sports and selected as the No. 7 overall prospect in Texas in 2029. Colleges like Baylor, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and UTSA have already extended early scholarship offers following a breakout freshman season where he racked up over 1,200 yards and scored 17 times.
Breakout Candidate: 2027 ATH Albert Parker Jr. (5’11, 165) - Timpson
The Bears closed the 2025 season on a high note with a 34-13 win over San Augustine and return several key contributors in 2026, but Parker is the player who will command the spotlight. Last season, he did a little bit of everything, lining up at quarterback, running back and on defense. His elite athleticism has already earned offers from Stephen F. Austin and UTSA, but a breakout senior campaign could help solidify his path to the FBS level.
