Every Class 6A Preseason District MVP in the 2026 Magazine

District 1-6A

Offensive MVP: Joe Fernandez, El Paso Pebble Hills QB

• Fernandez was a Second Team All-District selection last year with 1,892 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 609 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Zacary Adams, El Paso Eastwood LB

• Adams is the leader of El Paso Eastwood’s defense after racking up 93 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions last fall.

District 2-6A

Offensive MVP: Micah Smith, San Angelo Central QB

• Micah, the son of head coach Mark Smith, threw for 2,281 yards and 27 touchdowns last fall.

Defensive MVP: Lorenzo Carrillo, Midland Lee

• Carrillo forms one of Class 6A’s best linebacker tandems with David Ihediwa.

District 3-6A

Offensive MVP: Maxwell Nichols, Arlington Bowie WR

• Nichols, a UTEP commit, was the District Co-Offensive MVP last season with 61 catches for 1,086 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Tymon Meeks, Aledo DT

• Meeks, an Oregon State commit, had 94 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks in a First Team All-District season.

District 4-6A

Offensive MVP: Blake Gunter, Southlake Carroll WR

• Gunter, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound Cal commit, can play multiple positions on offense or defense. But his biggest impact is at wide receiver, where he had 55 catches for 1,224 yards, and 18 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: George Toia, Byron Nelson DT

• The UCLA commit had three sacks in seven snaps during Byron Nelson’s first-round playoff game last year. He’s now the focal point of one of Class 6A’s best defensive lines.

District 5-6A

Offensive MVP: Derrick Martin, Lewisville ATH

• Coach Michael Odle says there’s nothing this team captain can’t do on the football field. The Missouri State commit and son of two-time Super Bowl champion Derrick Martin Sr. was the District Offensive Utility Player of the Year last fall.

Defensive MVP: Zane Rowe, Denton Guyer DL

• Rowe was the District MVP with 72 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 14 pass breakups, and eight sacks. The Oregon commit is the No.13-ranked player in the DCTX Hot 100.

District 6-6A

Offensive MVP: Elliott Brown, Prosper WR

• Brown, a Sam Houston tight end commit, is one of just three returning starters on Prosper’s offense. He had 744 yards and eight touchdowns last fall.

Defensive MVP: Jacobie Wilkerson, Allen DE

• Allen head coach Lee Wiginton says Wilkerson, a North Texas commit, is ready to be an every down defender in 2026.

District 7-6A

Offensive MVP: Carter Zingelmann, Coppell QB

• The 6-foot-5, 225-pound junior burst onto the scene last fall with 2,020 passing yards, 800 rushing yards, and 32 total touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Chris Theriot, Lake Highlands LB

• Theriot started last year as a second-stringer, then ended as the District Defensive Player of the Year with 92 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

District 8-6A

Offensive MVP: Braylon Harris, Hurst Bell QB

• Harris will be the first returning starter at quarterback for Hurst Bell in six seasons. He had 1,247 passing yards, 574 rushing yards, and 18 total touchdowns as a junior.

Defensive MVP: Chayce Davis, Euless Trinity S

• The Oklahoma State commit pairs elite speed with a physical presence. At 6-foot, 173 pounds, he runs a 21.15 200M dash.

District 9-6A

Offensive MVP: Sam Loera, Rowlett QB

• At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Loera is one of the state’s most slept-on quarterbacks. He had 2,419 yards and 15 touchdowns passing, and also showed off a 4.7 40-yard dash with 509 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Defensive MVP: Kyle Jarvis, Wylie East DB

• Jarvis was a unanimous First Team All-District selection with 60 tackles, two blocked kicks, an interception, and two non-offensive touchdowns.

District 10-6A

Offensive MVP: Jaden Hurdon, Longview WR

• Coach John King says that Hurndon is on track to be one of the best to ever play at Longview. As a sophomore last season, he had 57 catches for 1,093 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Carson Adams, Rockwall-Heath LB

• Adams, an Air Force commit, was one of the best linebackers in the state last fall with 112 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

District 11-6A

Offensive MVP: Trenton Yancey, Duncanville WR

• A Purdue commit and the No.18-rated player in the DCTX Hot 100, Yancey was a unanimous First Team All-District wide receiver in last year’s District of Doom.

Defensive MVP: Jayquan Snell, Waxahachie DB

• Snell, a Texas A&M commit and the No.9-rated played in the DCTX Hot 100, is the leader of a Waxahachie defense that was named the preseason State Championship favorite in Class 6A DI.

District 12-6A

Offensive MVP: Hudson Humble, Killeen Harker Heights QB

• Humble, a Jackson State commit, is the reigning District Overall MVP with 3,478 passing yards and 36 touchdowns on a 76 percent completion rate.

Defensive MVP: Caden Byrd, Hewitt Midway DL

• Byrd, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound lineman, had 43 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.

District 13-6A

Offensive MVP: Camden Hughes, The Woodlands College Park QB

• Hughes is a three-year starter and team captain committed to Cincinnati. He had 2,636 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns, and is a true dual threat with 432 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Magnus Herndon, The Woodlands DL

• Herndon is a 6-foot-4 edge rusher who had 53 tackles and led Class 6A with 16 sacks.

District 14-6A

Offensive MVP: David Richardson, Aldine Davis WR

• Richardson was an all-district wide receiver on Aldine Davis’s best season in program history.

Defensive MVP: Davon Smith, Spring Westfield LB

• Smith, an Arizona commit, was described by head coach Desmar Black as, ‘as good of a linebacker as we’ve had at Spring Westfield.’ He had 121 tackles and 26 tackles for loss as a junior.

District 15-6A

Offensive MVP: Ian Thomas, Tomball RB

• Thomas, described as a complete RB by coach Dave Handal, had 1,544 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground.

Defensive MVP: Zack Ruysenaars, Klein Oak LB

• Ruysenaars is one of the top returning defenders in Class 6A with 118 tackles, five sacks, and an interception.

District 16-6A

Offensive MVP: Sean Riegler, Cy-Fair QB

• Riegler is described by coach Jeff Miller as a great leader with complete command of the offense. He had 2,868 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Kaden McCarty, Cy Falls DE

• McCarty, the No.16-overall player in the DCTX Hot 100, is a Texas A&M commit who had 54 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks as a junior.

District 17-6A

Offensive MVP: Dillon Mitchell, Sheldon C.E. King WR

• Mitchell, the fastest player in the state with a 9.92 Gold medal 100M dash, was Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore in the vaunted District 23-6A.

Defensive MVP: Da’Sean Royal, Galena Park North Shore LB

• Royal, a preseason First Team All-State pick in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine, is a fast and physical player who can cover slot receivers and running backs, per head coach Willie Gaston.

District 18-6A

Offensive MVP: Lorenzo Aguirre, Dickinson QB

• Aguirre had 3,410 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, winning District MVP as a junior while leading Dickinson to a 13-1 record.

Defensive MVP: Michael Benavides, Deer Park DE

• Benavides is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end who had six sacks and an interception last fall.

District 19-6A

Offensive MVP: Jaylen Addai, Alvin Shadow Creek WR

• Addai, the son of Super Bowl-winning running back Joseph Addai, had over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Defensive MVP: DeMarco Jenkins, Pearland DL

• Jenkins, a Miami commit, had 45 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and six sacks as a junior.

District 20-6A

Offensive MVP: Myles Goebel, Houston Memorial WR

• Goebel had 44 receptions for 707 yards and 10 touchdowns, helping Houston Memorial win a district championship in head coach Brooks Haack’s first year.

Defensive MVP: Prince Washington, Houston Lamar DB

• Washington (6-foot-1, 200), is long, fast, and physical. Coach Michael Lindsey says the senior is the heartbeat of the team after posting 25 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception.

District 21-6A

Offensive MVP: Carson White, Fort Bend Hightower QB

• White, an Oklahoma State commit, followed his father, an offensive coordinator, to Fort Bend Hightower this fall. He posted a 22-4 record over the last two seasons at Alvin Iowa Colony.

Defensive MVP: Dyllon Bennett, Fort Bend Ridge Point LB

• Bennett is a four-year starter and three-time captain on the top linebacker unit in Class 6A.

District 22-6A

Offensive MVP: Ethan Meadows, Katy Tompkins RB

• Meadows is a two-year captain and three-year starter who had 1,265 total yards and 18 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: David Olutu-Judah, Katy DB

• Olutu-Judah is a Katy legacy player who’s making his own name for himself after posting 37 tackles, nine pass breakups, and seven interceptions.

District 23-6A

Offensive MVP: Kash Schwab, Bridgeland RB

• Schwab is a two-time First Team All-District performer who ran for 1,421 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Amari Vickerson, Cy Ranch DL

• Vickerson, an SMU commit, was a THSCA Super Elite Team member with 52 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks.

District 24-6A

Offensive MVP: Jaiden Fields, Hutto ATH

• Coach Casey Walraven calls the Oklahoma commit, “one of the best high school football players in the country.” He had 89 catches for 1,345 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense. He’s also a standout safety with 50 tackles and two interceptions.

Defensive MVP: Griffin Gorrebeeck, Austin Vandegrift DB

• Gorrebeeck is described as a versatile and physical player by coach Drew Sanders. He made 72 tackles, five tackles for loss, and an interception from his safety spot.

District 25-6A

Offensive MVP: Dylan Jaeger, Round Rock WR

• Jaeger, a TCU tight end commit, was a First Team All-District wide receiver with 66 receptions for 995 yards and nine touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Wylie Nichols, Austin Westlake DB

• Nichols is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound rangy safety who will be the focal point of head coach Tony Salazar’s defense.

District 26-6A

Offensive MVP: Chase Ames, Dripping Springs QB

• Ames emerged from a four-man quarterback battle last fall to become one of the state’s breakout stars, shattering a school record with 3,682 passing yards and 47 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Ethan Kahle, Austin High LB

• Kahle is described by coach Jason Cecil as an instinctual, physical linebacker who displays excellent leadership qualities. He had 121 tackles and four sacks as a junior.

District 27-6A

Offensive MVP: Carson Lacombe, San Antonio Pieper WR

• Lacombe is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver who had 65 catches for 843 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore.

Defensive MVP: Eli Johnson, Cibolo Steele DB

• Johnson, an Ohio State commit, is a three-year starter and the No.2-overall safety in the DCTX Hot 100.

District 28-6A

Offensive MVP: Elvis Estrada, San Antonio Johnson QB

• Estrada had 3,130 passing yards, 39 passing touchdowns, 479 rushing yards, and five rushing touchdowns last fall. He’ll throw to arguably the state’s best wide receiver tandem in Bryson Thompson and Braelyn Allen.

Defensive MVP: Ayden Fernandez, San Antonio Reagan LB

• Fernandez was a two-way star who had 56 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception on defense. He also had 574 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on offense.

District 29-6A

Offensive MVP: Cameron Grady, San Antonio Sotomayor RB

• Grady is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound physical specimen who had 1,106 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Johnas Brewster, San Antonio Brennan LB

• Brewster is described by head coach Stephen Basore as an instinctive player with a nose for the ball who can make plays sideline-to-sideline.

District 30-6A

Offensive MVP: Colt Lozano, Laredo United WR

• Lozano is the state’s returning leader in receiving yards with 1,859 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Leonel Mireles IV, Laredo LBJ DB

• Mireles was the District Defensive MVP with 129 total tackles with four tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and two pass breakups.

District 31-6A

Offensive MVP: John Carreon, Edinburg Economedes QB

• Carreon led the Jaguars to over 40 points in seven of the 11 games they played in last fall. He had 672 passing yards and 910 rushing yards with 20 total touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Caidyn Hoover, Edinburg Vela ATH

• Hoover was the District Defensive Player of the Year with 50 tackles and 10 interceptions, winning Built Ford Tough Player of the Week in the season opener.

District 32-6A

Offensive MVP: Hassan Woolery, Harlingen QB

• Woolery is described by coach Manny Gomez as an elite talent with 1,348 passing yards, 813 rushing yards, and 18 total touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Jason Almanza, PSJA North DB

• Almanza is one of 33 returning lettermen for PSJA North, excelling at free safety with 117 total tackles and five tackles for loss.
