The State of Texas has produced at least two first round picks in 17 straight NFL drafts, but that trend could end in 2026 if the latest mock drafts prove correct.

Six Texas high school football exports were selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which was the second-most behind the seven picked in 2020.

The last time fewer than two Texans were called in the first round was back in 2008 when Aqib Talib was the lone one picked.

Texas led all states with 36 selections last year, and while there is depth for the Lone Star State in the upcoming draft, the star power is lacking. The only Texas product expected to be selected in the first round on most of the recent mock drafts is wide receiver Jordan Tyson, who played college ball at Arizona State after a prep career at Allen.

Other players with a shot to creep into the first round include Chriss Brazzell II, Anthony Hill Jr., and Jadarian Price.

The NFL Draft is scheduled to start on April 23 in Pittsburgh, Penn.
