Pleasant Grove High School has elevated defensive coordinator Johnathan Darby to head football coach.
Darby joined Pleasant Grove's staff seven years ago and has served as the defensive coordinator for the past five seasons. The Hawks have won double-digit games in four of the last five years and have reached at least the third round of the playoffs every year. Darby has mentored a plethora of DI defensive talent, including Baylor signee Jamarion Richardson, Texas Longhorns edge rusher Lance Jackson and TCU safety Kaden McFadden.
Former head coach Josh Gibson stepped down on January 7 to pursue a job in the private sector after leading Pleasant Grove to a 124-39 record with two state championship victories in 12 seasons.
