Inside the National Signing Day numbers for Texas FCS and DII teams

A deep dive into the numbers of the FCS and NCAA Division II recruiting classes from the 2024 cycle.

Nearly three weeks have passed since National Signing Day, and our Non-FBS insider has searched the internet and crunched the numbers of every FCS and NCAA Division II recruiting class available. Let’s dive in.

1 - UIW is the only FCS or DII team in Texas that has not released its 2024 signing class. Please keep in mind the following numbers in the FCS section are approximate.

Totals

513 - Players signed.

391 - High School players signed.

369 - Texas high school football players signed

122 - Transfers signed.

16 - Players signed that won a Texas UIL state football championship.

94.4 - Percent of Texas high school players signed.

FCS

268 - Players signed.

168 - High school players signed.

153 - Texas high school  football players signed.

100 - Transfers signed.

12 - Players signed that won a Texas UIL state football championship.

91.1 - Percent of Texas high school  players signed.

NCAA Division II

245 - Players signed.

223 - High school players signed.

216 - Texas high school players signed.

22 - Transfers signed.

4 - Players signed that won a Texas UIL state football championship

96.9 - Percent of Texas high school  players signed.

Other numbers of interest

61 - Number of total players signed at Stephen F. Austin,  the most of all Texas schools.

57 - Number of high school players signed by Sul Ross State, the most of all Texas schools.

4 - Number of teams where 100 percent of high school signees were from Texas schools (Texas A&M-Commerce, UTRGV, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and UTPB).

4 - Number of teams where less than 90 percent of high school signees were from Texas schools (Houston Christian 66.7, Prairie View A&M 87.5, Tarleton 80, and Texas Southern 81.8).

9 - Number of teams where transfers were over 25 percent of signing class (Abilene Christian, HCU, Lamar, PVAMU, SFA, Tarleton, TAMU-Commerce, Texas Southern, UTPB).

3 - Number of teams that did not sign a transfer (Angelo State, Midwestern State, TAMU-Kingsville).

16 - Number of transfers signed by UTPB, which was the most of Texas DII schools.

8 - Number of teams that signed a player who won a Texas UIL state football championship.

5 - The number of players signed by SFA who won a Texas UIL state football title is the most of all Texas schools.

4 - Number of schools that signed over 50 players this recruiting cycle (SFA 61, UTRGV 51, SRSU 59, UTPB 54).

15 - Total number of players signed by Texas Southern, the fewest of all Texas schools.
