It’ll be tough for anyone in 14-4A Division II to win a playoff game, but the district race, much like last year, should be plenty competitive. With eight starters back on offense, Bandera gets the edge over Carrizo Springs and Devine after the three teams split with each other a year ago. Pearsall struggled a year ago with just two wins, but the Mavericks should be improved as they return 14 starters.
Sinton made a run all the way to the regional final last year, but the Pirates' defense and skill talent was gutted by graduation. That should open the door for Cuero, which has its sights set on taking back Region IV supremacy. Fresh off an area round playoff appearance in Eric Soza’s first season, Rockport-Fulton should be improved with 14 returning starters.
It’s a three-horse race once again in 16-4A Division II as the top three teams in this district all split against each other a year ago. Kingsville and its explosive skill talent gets a slight edge over LaFeria and a young Port Isabel squad that earned a playoff victory a year ago.
