Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has confirmed that Mart ISD is expected to name Robinson head coach Chris Lancaster as the next athletic director/head football coach pending board approval Tuesday night.
He will take over for Kevin Hoffman, who won three state titles at Mart and led the Panthers to two other state title game appearances.
Lancaster has spent the past two seasons at Robinson where he’s authored a tremendous turnaround leading the Rockets to back-to-back playoff appearances and a 13-9 record. Robinson had won just seven games the previous three seasons combined.
Prior to coming to Robinson, Lancaster led the program at Little River-Academy from 2020-2022 where he posted a 22-13 overall record, including an impressive 11-2 mark in 2021. Lancaster also spent five seasons as a head coach at Bruceville-Eddy from 2009-2012.
Lancaster, who played collegiately at Clemson, spent his early coaching career in the college ranks with stints as a graduate assistant at Clemson and Baylor. He then held full-time positions at Baylor for two different stints, Sam Houston, McNeese and Kentucky. Coach Lancaster was also an assistant at nearby Troy.
Robinson has some intriguing talent returning and will without a doubt be an attractive opening statewide at the 4A-Division II level.
