The Top 10 highest-rated athletes in the Lone Star State in the 2024 cycle, including Texas Tech commit Lorenzo Johnson Jr., Texas commit Aeryn Hampton, and Pleasant Grove's Ahkhari Johnson.

1. Terry Bussey (5'11, 175) - Timpson: Passed for 2,177 yards and 26 touchdowns, rushed for 2,596 yards and 46 touchdowns, and collected 115 tackles and five INTs to be named Mr. Texas Football.

2. Aeryn Hampton (5'10, 175) - Daingerfield: Posted 1,161 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, 74 tackles, and nine interceptions (five returned for TDs) to earn second-team all-state honors. 

Committed to Texas.

3. Derrick McFall (5'11, 175) - Tyler: Racked up 889 yards of total offense (passing, rushing, receiving) and six touchdowns to earn first-team all-district honors. 

Committed to UCLA.

4. Hunter Moddon (6'0, 175) - Clear Lake: Standout play on offense, defense, and special teams earned Moddon 24-6A Iron Man honors. 

Considering: Houston, Oregon, Utah, UTSA

5. Ahkhari Johnson (6'0, 180) - Texarkana Pleasant Grove: Passed for 1,710 yards, rushed for 856 yards and scored 33 touchdowns. 

Committed to Arkansas. 

6. Oliver Miles (6'1, 175) - El Campo: Completed 14 of 37 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 743 yards and six touchdowns to earn Texas 12-4A Division I Utility Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2022.

Committed to Texas Tech.

7. Jaylen Boardley (6'0, 190) - Texarkana Pleasant Grove: Rushed for 1,219 yards and 20 touchdowns, caught 23 passes for 428 yards and four scores to earn first-team all-district honors. 

Considering: Baylor, Houston, SMU, UTSA, Arkansas

8. Joshua Smith (6'4, 200) - Crandall: Smith collected 53 receptions for 771 yards and eight touchdowns to earn first-team all-district honors as a junior in 2022.

9. Lorenzo Johnson Jr. (5'11, 170) - Madisonville: Collected 31 receptions for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns, 31 tackles, 10 PBUs, four INts, and returned two kicks and two punts for TDs to earn first-team all-district and second-team all-state honors.

10. Roger Gradney (5'11, 170) - Rice Consolidated: He missed a majority of his junior season with an injury.
