Fort Bend Ridge Point 2030 WR Adrian Peterson Jr. (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) got his first taste of varsity football Friday night, seeing action in the Panthers' 29-26 win over Dickinson.

The son of Texas high school football, Oklahoma and NFL legend Adrian Peterson has already generated plenty of recruiting buzz. Baylor, Florida State, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri State, SMU, Syracuse, Texas State, Texas Tech and UTSA have all extended offers.

Ridge Point head coach Rick LaFevers said Peterson has already earned meaningful playing time.

"He'll play a lot of meaningful snaps," LaFevers said. "He's getting plenty of reps in practice, rolling with the ones at times and the twos at others.

"He's a tremendous athlete who can really run. He's a great kid, very humble and respectful. We're trying to find ways to get him the ball and help him grow. As the season goes on, the playbook will continue to expand. You want to develop him at the right pace so he can play fast."

While Peterson's last name naturally leads many to believe he'll play running back, his future lies at wide receiver. 

"Right now, he's a receiver," LaFevers said. "He's built more like a receiver, and he's actually taller than his dad.

"I know everybody immediately thinks running back because of who his father is, but his dad sees him as a receiver, and we see him as a receiver. That's not to say we won't motion him into the backfield or do different things with him."

Seeing Peterson in person, it's easy to understand the buzz. He has the size, twitch and athleticism to emerge as one of the nation's premier 2030 prospects.

Fort Bend Ridge Point (1-0) takes on Alvin Shadow Creek (1-0) in what could be the state's most talent-rich matchup of Week 2.
