BREAKING: Five-Star CB John Meredith Ruled Ineligible at North Crowley

John Meredith, the No.1 ranked player in the DCTX Hot 100 and Texas Longhorns commit, was ruled ineligible for varsity competition at a UIL State Executive Committee hearing.

ROUND ROCK – The UIL State Executive Committee declared five-star cornerback and Texas Longhorns commit John Meredith ineligible for varsity athletics at North Crowley on Thursday by a 3-2 vote. Meredith is eligible to return to Euless Trinity for varsity competition.

Meredith, a unanimous First Team All-District selection as a junior and the No.1-ranked player in the DCTX Hot 100, moved from Euless Trinity High School to North Crowley High School at the beginning of the spring 2026 semester. His mother, Chasity Parks, cited a recent marriage and move, as well as the desire to return to the Crowley community where his dad grew up, as the driving factors. Meredith's father passed away in 2021. In June, however, the District 11-6A Executive Committee determined that Meredith had transferred for athletic purposes by a vote of 5-to-2. Meredith and his family appealed to the UIL.

The State Executive Committee narrowly upheld the District 11-6A decision, citing that, above all, the move to North Crowley was for athletic purposes. Among the factors was that Parks's new home in Burleson is closer to schools like Burleson, Burleson Centennial, and Everman, than North Crowley.

This is a developing story.
