North Crowley 2027 CB John Meredith III (6’2, 185) is one of the most heavily pursued prospects in the nation, collecting 44 FBS-level offers from coast-to-coast.
On Friday, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football named him the No. 1 prospect in Texas, and during Under Armour All-American week, he identified four programs standing out in his recruitment, schools he remains focused on as the race heats up.
“I set my top four at the All-American Game,” Meredith said. “The schools that have really been pulling my attention are Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas and Ohio State.”
Ohio State: “Coach (Tim) Hinton, that’s my dude. I’ve been up there for a visit. It’s real good in Ohio. Devin (Sanchez) treated me real well and showed me around. I feel like I’d be good there.”
Texas A&M: “I’ve been around there since I was young, so it feels like family. When I’m there, it’s real family-oriented. Coach BGA (Bryant Gross-Armiento). I already had a relationship with him before he became the coach. They had a defensive coordinator change. The new guy (Lyle Hemphill) is pretty good. I’m actually really cool with him. I just talked to him the other day.”
Texas: “Coach (Mark) Orphey, that’s my dude. Just him in general, and Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian).”
Alabama: “Coach Mo (Maurice Linguist), that’s my dog. He’s been recruiting me real hard, coming by to see me and stuff like that.”
“I’ll definitely be taking official visits to Texas A&M, Alabama, Ohio State and Texas. Those are for sure OVs.”
Meredith is looking for honesty and developmental upside on and off the field. Whatever college can show him the blueprint will hold the edge at the end of the day.
“Being real with me,” Meredith answered when asked what will set one great school apart in his recruitment. “Not just telling me what I want to hear, but telling me the good and the bad. And showing me how they can develop me as a person.”
Meredith is up in the air on a commitment timeline.
“I was going to say spring, but I’m going to wait,” Meredith explained, “It depends. It all takes time.”
