Argyle Liberty Christian head coach and Dallas Cowboys legend Jason Witten is set to become the University of Oklahoma tight ends coach. FootballScoop was the first to report.
Witten, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection as the Cowboys' tight end, was hired as Argyle Liberty Christian's head coach in 2021 a week after he retired from the NFL. Over the past four seasons, the Warriors have compiled a 44-7 record with back-to-back TAPPS State Championships (2023-24) for the first time in school history.
Witten joins an Oklahoma program coming off a 10-3 season and College Football Playoff appearance. His tight end room returns the team's third-leading receiver, Jaren Kanak, who caught 44 passes for 533 yards. The Sooners have also added 6'8 tight end Hayden Hansen from Florida in the Transfer Portal
Witten's son, Cooper, was named the first five-star of the 2027 DCTX Hot 100 in September 2025. It is unclear whether or not Cooper, a linebacker and wide reciever, will play his senior season with Argyle Liberty Christian, or in Oklahoma.
This is a developing story.
