Running Back Prospects Who Could Make State Unforgettable

The 2025 UIL Texas High School Football State Championships are stacked with elite running backs including Landen Williams-Callis, KJ Edwards and Sarod Baker.

These running backs could turn AT&T Stadium into their personal playground this week at the 2025 UIL Football Championships.

Stryker Reed - Gordon vs. Rankin - Wednesday, 11:00 AM:
The DCTX three-star has scored 30 touchdowns on just 59 touches this season. Used primarily as a spread back, the Air Force commit brings efficiency and versatility whenever Gordon puts the ball in his hands.

KJ Porter - Newton vs. Wall - Thursday, 7:00 PM:
Porter owns offers from Houston and Texas Tech and has been a steady producer in Newton’s Wing/Gun offense. He has rushed for 1,829 yards and 29 touchdowns and added 416 receiving yards and six scores.

KJ Edwards - Carthage vs. West Orange-Stark - Friday, 3:00 PM:
The DCTX five-star and Texas A&M signee is Carthage’s all-time leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. The 2024 Class 4A Division II state title game Offensive MVP has topped 2,300 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior.

Khelvy Jefferson - West Orange-Stark vs. Carthage - Friday, 3:00 PM:
The 5-foot-3, 160-pound back rushed for 2,384 yards and 34 touchdowns this season, helping West Orange-Stark reach AT&T Stadium. His 550-pound squat underscores the power behind the production.

Landen Williams-Callis - Richmond Randle vs. South Oak Cliff - Saturday, 11:00 AM:
One of two 2027 DCTX five-stars, Williams-Callis already has 54 FBS offers. He has rushed for 7,422 yards and 124 touchdowns in three varsity seasons.

Sarod Baker - DeSoto vs. Sheldon C.E. King - Saturday, 7:00 PM:
Baker has powered DeSoto’s playoff run with 1,507 yards and 19 touchdowns. The 2027 back reports more than 20 offers, with Ohio State, Oregon and Colorado offering this week.

Dionne Sims - Sheldon C.E. King vs. DeSoto - Saturday, 7:00 PM:
The Rice commit and DCTX three-star rushed for 1,883 yards and 26 touchdowns this season and is a key cog in C.E. King’s prolific offense.
