Carthage 2026 RB KJ Edwards (5'9, 185), newly elevated to five-star status by DCTX, delivered a dominant performance Friday in a 34-20 win over Texarkana Pleasant Grove, finding the end zone three times and reinforcing why he is one of the state’s elite prospects.
Edwards credited his offensive line for paving the way in the victory.
“Without the O-line, the offense wouldn’t be clicking on all cylinders,” Edwards said. “I just want to give all credit to those guys.”
Edwards, whom DCTX previously compared to Alabama and Detroit Lions standout Jahmyr Gibbs, said he continues to grow within the Carthage program, which he described as a tight community built on accountability.
“Down here it doesn’t matter how big your name is or how much money you’ve got — it’s all about the team,” Edwards said. “We’ve got one of the best fanbases in Texas, so I want to give a shoutout to the fans in Carthage.”
The junior was named the state championship offensive MVP last season and said the Bulldogs remain focused on returning to AT&T Stadium.
“You practice how you play,” Edwards said. “Every week we’re focused on improving from the previous one.”
Edwards also advocated for his younger brother, JD Edwards, a rising 2028 prospect in the Carthage system.
“He can play whatever you need him to play,” Edwards said. “He’s patient, he waits for his number to be called, and he’ll make plays.”
With the early signing period approaching, Edwards reaffirmed his commitment to Texas A&M, where he plans to make his decision official next Wednesday.
“Yes sir, I’m ready to be an Aggie,” Edwards exclaimed!
