Texas A&M’s quest for a perfect season nearly came to an end last week as the Aggies were forced to overcome a 30-3 deficit against South Carolina. Mike Elko’s squad completed the comeback en route to a 31-30 victory that saw Texas A&M secure ten regular-season wins for the first time since 2012.

The Aggies are back in action at home this Saturday as the 1-10 Samford Bulldogs come to town. Samford fired their head coach, Chris Hatcher, earlier this month. These late-season contests against FCS foes represent a perfect opportunity for some of the players with limited snap counts on the roster to step up. With the postseason looming large, depth becomes even more important. The Aggie coaching staff will need to evaluate younger members of the roster heading into 2026. Keeping that in mind, we’re taking a different approach for this preview and highlighting some of the players to keep an eye on for more playing time come Saturday.

On the offensive side of the ball, Texas A&M likely stands to lose a good amount up front after the close of this season. Lamont Rogers, Robert Bourdon, and Blake Ivy are among the names I expect to get a good chunk of playing time once the game is in hand. Watch their reps to see how they handle communication and blitz pickup. Building those skills now will be important in 2026 or if injuries occur this season.

At the skill positions on the offensive side of the ball, the player I’m most interested to see more of is TK Norman at wide receiver. Norman got a bit of play time in the closing stages of the contest against LSU, and I’d expect him to get even more this Saturday against Samford.

On the defensive side of the ball, Texas A&M will also be replacing a ton of talent in the trenches. On the interior, I’d expect to see more of Dealyn Evans, Landon Rink, and DJ Sanders against Samford. On the edges, Marco Jones has already begun to take on a bigger role in the rotation. Instead, I’m interested to see if guys like Solomon Williams and Sam M’Pemba get a chance to shine.

The Aggies are a bit younger at linebacker and in the secondary, but I’m still very interested to see a guy like Noah Mikhail get a lot more run time at linebacker in game conditions. Mikhail is one of the true freshmen I’m most excited about on this roster, and should the game be in hand early, I expect a lot out of #16.

The mission for the Aggies on Saturday is simple. Dominate early, play mistake-free football, stay healthy, and get the young guys on the roster as much run time as possible. After Samford, Texas A&M will be back on the road as they close out the season in Austin. We’ll see where the Aggies go from there.
