Sunnyvale (8-1, 4-0) at Canton (9-0, 4-0):
A district title is on the line in 6-4A Division II as state-ranked Sunnyvale heads east to take on the surprising unbeaten Canton Eagles.
Sunnyvale had no trouble last week with Wills Point in a 62-7 win. QB Cayson Maupin continues to put up big time numbers and the Raiders defense continues to play well after a bit of a slow start in district play.
Canton and their stout running game has been one of the big surprises in East Texas as they came into the season with a very young team. QB Cort Ray is a force for the Eagles offensive attack that averages over 51 points per game.
The biggest concern I have for Canton in this game is their strength of schedule. Aside from the 35-10 win last week over Quinlan Ford, Canton doesn’t have a win over an opponent with a winning record. I think the Sunnyvale passing game is going to be a real problem for CHS in this one.
