McDade and Snook have forfeited the remainder of their district schedules for the 2025 football season, according to the District 13-2A Division II executive committee.

McDade, currently 0-3, had yet to begin district play. The Bulldogs’ administration cited injuries and low roster numbers, with only 13 healthy players remaining. McDade has been outscored 202-6 in its first three games. The Bulldogs moved up to Class 2A in 2024 after competing in six-man football, finishing 1-9 in their first 11-man season. That campaign also ended with three district forfeits.

Snook’s decision is more surprising. As recently as 2020, the Blue Jays advanced to the area round of the playoffs. According to sources, Snook still has 25 healthy players in the program, but concerns over player safety led to the decision to forfeit. Snook is 0-4 and lost its district opener to Somerville 55-0 last week.

"Snook has made the tough decision to drop from a varsity level and field a junior varsity team for the remainder of the season," Snook head coach Nolan Lanham said. "This comes after careful consideration and is a tough decision, but based on the number and severity of previous injuries, and out of an abundance of caution for our current players we feel it is the best interest of Snook ISD for the change to be made. We realize this is an inconvenience for the other schools in our district, but I would like to thank the members of District 13-2AA for their professionalism throughout this transition."

There's no word yet on whether McDade will play a junior varsity schedule.

District 13-2A Division II will release a revised schedule later today. All scheduled games against McDade and Snook will be recorded as forfeit wins for their opponents.
