Bushland (1-0) at Canadian (1-0):

The top two small-school teams in the Texas Panhandle face off in what is always an entertaining game. Bushland rolled to an easy 55-0 win over Borger last week. The Falcons played two QBs as Colton Strickland and Kannon Avan both saw plenty of action. Avan ran for over 100 yards and threw a couple of touchdown passes, while Bushland’s defense held Borger to under 100 yards of offense and forced three turnovers. Canadian opened the season with an impressive 33-6 win over a larger school from Elk City, OK. RB Slayden Dickenson had a strong night with 212 yards and a pair of scores, while sophomore QB Weston Mitchell was solid throwing for 118 yards and he ran for two scores in his varsity football debut. Both teams are still figuring things out despite the big season opening victories. This will be a great test for both teams to see where they stand in Region I. We’ll give the edge to Canadian, which is at home and has the overall pedigree edge.
