Week 1 Must-See Matchup of the Week: Prosper vs. Austin Westlake

Texas A&M OL commit Zaden Krempin and USC DL commit Jake Johnson lead the Prosper Eagles against Ole Miss QB commit Rees Wise and the Austin Westlake Chaparrals in the DCTX Must-See Matchup of the Week.

Prosper vs. Austin Westlake at Mary Hardin-Baylor (Aug. 29)

After a disappointing first-round exit from the playoffs a year ago, Prosper will look to make a statewide statement with a win over last year’s 6A-Division I state runner-up.

As usual, Prosper will be outstanding in the trenches with Texas A&M OL commit Zaden Krempin, Arkansas OL commit Bryce Gilmore and Duke OL commit Sean Stover leading the way, along with USC DL commit Jake Johnson on the defense. The key for Prosper in 2025 will be their skill talent and how those units progress. QB Braden Imhoff is back to lead the offense and his favorite WR target Lathon Latiolas.

Westlake lost several of their stars from last year’s team, but the core of the team is back with 13 starters returning. Ole Miss QB commit Rees Wise is back for a third year to lead the Chaps offense and will be more heavily counted on to give Westlake the offensive punch they’ll need to contend for a state title. DL Maddox Flynt will lead what is always a strong Westlake defensive unit.

Sixty lettermen from last year’s team graduated so a lot of new faces will be counted on to make an impact and in Week 1 playing a veteran Prosper squad that returns 16 starters could pose a real challenge. Prosper pulls the upset in Week 1 and wins a close one.
