Fort Bend ISD was rocked with tragic news early Monday morning when Fort Bend Bush head football coach Allen Aldridge passed away unexpectedly overnight, Dave Campbell's Texas Football has learned.
Aldridge was a graduate of Willowridge High School in 1990 and played his college football at the University of Houston. He was selected in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft and spent four years with the Denver Broncos, winning a Super Bowl in his final season with Denver in 1997.
Aldridge finished his NFL career with the Detroit Lions from 1998-2001 before retiring in 2002. He spent a total of eight seasons in the NFL, playing 128 games.
Soon after his playing career wrapped up, Aldridge got into coaching where he spent 20 seasons at Fort Bend Bush, including the last 15 years as the Broncos' head coach.
Fort Bend ISD has not yet commented on Aldridge's passing, nor has a cause of death been identified.
