Katy (4-1, 3-0) vs Katy Jordan (4-0, 2-0): First place in 19-6A is on the line and one of the teams involved in the game isn’t a shock to anyone as perennial power Katy has opened district play like a team on a mission after a loss in Week 2 to Atascocita. The other team, unbeaten and newly state-ranked Katy Jordan, is just in ts second year of varsity football.
Last week, Katy rolled past Katy Mayde Creek, 59-7, as sophomore RB Tremayne Hill ran for three scores and RB Chase Johnsey ran for a pair of scores to lead a lethal rushing attack.
Katy Jordan got a tougher than expected test from Katy Paetow on Saturday night, but the Warriors pulled away late for a 26-8 win in workman-like fashion. RB Chad Gasper ran for two scores, WR Andrew Marsh had a touchdown catch and the offense continues to play mistake-free football.
Katy Jordan has elite and dynamic skill talent; they’ll put pressure on a Katy secondary that hasn’t been tested since the loss to Atascocita. But this is still Katy ISD and everything runs through the Tigers in 19-6A. Jordan makes some big plays, but Katy rolls as the Tigers appear to be rounding into form just in time for a playoff push.
