The second day of the 2023 Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament in College Station is in the books, with the Division II and Division III champions crowned and Division I pool play done and dusted. The Dave Campbell's Texas Football staff was all over the event, seeing teams from every corner of the state. Here's what we noticed.
No surprise: superstars dazzle in College Station
Greg Tepper, managing editor
We've talked all week about the star power that's going to descend upon College Station, and sure enough, the Brazos Valley was overwhelmed by individual playmakers as the Division I teams took the field.
It's hard to miss Lake Belton receiver Micah Hudson, who displayed remarkably smooth route-running and sure hands to pace the Broncos. In the same vein, I came away very impressed by Austin Westlake quarterback Kadyn Leon, who dropped some wildly impressive throws for the Chaps. San Antonio Johnson quarterback Ty Hawkins is worth the price of admission, as is DeSoto quarterback DJ Bailey. And on the defensive side, I came away really impressed by McKinney cornerback Ashton McShane, who looked like top-end playmaker throughout pool play.
