Longhorns Earn In-State Pledge from Hot 100 WR Freddie Dubose

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns landed a commitment from one of the highest-rated prospects in Texas high school football in WR Freddie Dubose.

Smithson Valley 2024 WR Freddie Dubose (6'1, 170) committed to Texas over offers from Baylor, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UTSA.

Dubose is rated as the No. 68 prospect in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100, the No. 12 WR.

Dubose missed all but one game in 2022 due to an injury. Played his sophomore season at Schertz Clemens, posting 423 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Scouting Report: Exceptional aerial control, effortlessly snags contested catches and handles defenders. Impressive speed maintenance despite varied running paths. Towering build and lengthy arms make the ball vanish in his grasp. Graceful running style, needs to polish release but glides with ease, strong presence in routes and blocking.

Scouted Dubose in person at the UA Camp in Dallas, and he is almost fully recovered from his injury. Despite battling back in a hurry, he showcased the same skill set that made him a heavily offered prospect to begin with. He has sneaky speed that allows him to get separation and his long arms help him pull in passes. Will be a deep threat and a potential weapon in red zone situations.
