Texas’ Jaylan Ford won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Texas Longhorns linebacker Jaylan Ford wins Big 12 honors following win over Kansas State

Texas’ Jaylan Ford won Big 12 defensive player of the week after a clutch performance in Manhattan in the Longhorns key conference victory against the Wildcats. Ford collected an interception, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a team-high 10 tackles including six solo. The Texas offense capitalized on Ford’s forced turnover scoring a touchdown right before half which at the time extended the Longhorns lead to three touchdowns. That touchdown proved to be the difference in the game as Texas went on to win 34-27. Ford also recovered the game sealing fumble recovery with 24 seconds left. This is Ford’s fifth double-digit tackle game this season and currently leads the Big 12 with 9.11 tackles per game and 82 tackles overall on the season.

The Longhorns’ next game is a huge matchup in Austin this coming Saturday against the currently undefeated Horned Frogs of TCU. The game will be the site for College Gameday as well. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm (CT).
