Five-Star DE David Hicks Jr. Signs with Texas A&M

David Hicks Jr., the No. 1-rated player in the DCTF Hot 100, just signed to play for Texas A&M over Oklahoma and Oregon. What's this mean for the Aggies?

Katy Paetow 2023 DE David "DJ" Hicks (6'4, 270) signed with Texas A&M over offers from schools like Texas, Alabama, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Oklahoma and Oregon.

The five-star prospect is rated the No. 1 player in the DCTF Hot 100.

Hicks was also selected to the 2022 DCTF Preseason Whataburger Super Team, earning Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Scouting Report: Hicks is a unique talent because he has the explosive play-making ability of a five-star defensive end with the size and power of an NFL defensive tackle.  He can be moved around a defensive front to create a lot of mismatches—he’s a tough assignment for offensive guards or offensive tackles. He’s a consistent source of pass pressure, constantly causing havoc behind the line of scrimmage. He’s a physical run defender who is skilled at shedding blocks and will chase down running backs from the backside.

As a junior (Allen High School), Hicks racked up 88 tackles, 22 TFLs, and 13 sacks to earn 5-6A Defensive MVP honors.
